33 Defenses for the Resurrection of Jesus

3. Are Miracles Possible?, 4. Is the NT True?, Apologetics, Brian Chilton, Christianity, Easter, Gospel, historical apologetics, Jesus, New Testament, Resurrection, www.bellatorChristi.com
I told someone recently that Easter (aka., “Resurrection Sunday”) is my favorite holiday. It holds a greater prominence for the child of God than even Christmas. Up until the commercialization of Christmas, Easter was the central holiday for the Christian. One of my good friends recently stated that her pastor called Easter the “Super Bowl for Christianity,” and for good reason. Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Are there, however, good reasons for believing that Jesus of Nazareth literally arose from the dead on that first Resurrection Sunday? The historicity of the resurrection and the Gospels were a major sticking point for me in my time of doubt. If the resurrection was only wishful thinking, then believers have no genuine hope for their eternity. Yet if the resurrection is…

Do the Resurrection Narratives Contradict? A Reply to Dan McClellan

3. Are Miracles Possible?, 4. Is the NT True?, Apologetics, Bible, Christianity, Dan McClellan, Easter, Gospel, historical apologetics, Jesus, Jonathan McLatchie, JonathanMclatchie.com, Resurrection
Dan McClellan is a Biblical scholar who has taken to creating YouTube content. He has a popular channel, with 127,000 subscribers at the time of this writing. He often produces short videos responding to conservative scholars and apologists. Unfortunately, McClellan often comes across as incredibly condescending towards conservative scholars, with a rhetorical tone that is, in my view, unbecoming of scholarly discourse. I know that other conservative scholars feel the same way. McClellan recently published a 17-minute video responding to a TikTok video by my colleague, Dr. Sean McDowell, on discrepancies in the resurrection narratives. In this article, I will address points raised in this video. McDowell begins by observing, correctly, that “even if there were contradictions in the Bible, this wouldn’t prove that Christianity is false.” I agree with McDowell. I do…

baptism., Christian Apologetics, Christianity, Dr. Frank Turek, Heaven, Jesus, morality, philosophy, Podcast, Q&A, religion, same-sex relationships, theology, woke churches
Why do Christians think Jesus is the only way to Heaven? And what ultimately sets Christianity apart from other religions like Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism? In this midweek episode, Frank explains why Jesus is the only way to salvation and why good works or sincere belief in other religions won’t save you. Tune is as he also tackles questions like: Does simply saying you believe Jesus is our LORD and Saviour enough to save you? Why was Jesus’ sacrifice necessary? Are all non-Christians going to Hell, even if they’re “good” people? Why can’t a loving God allow everyone into Heaven, regardless of their beliefs? Do you need Christianity to be a good person? What’s wrong with the popular ‘He Gets Us’ campaign? How are people tormented in Hell? What’s the…

If you have ever been involved in religious discussion on Facebook or Twitter, you have probably come across some version of the comment below: I just think it’s interesting that the only book that even talks about Jesus is the Bible! I’m not even sure we can prove he actually existed. Although this assertion is largely rejected by scholars in all spheres of historical and biblical studies, it tends to pop back up on social media like a never-ending game of digital whack-a-mole. The truth is that Jesus is not only documented in the eye-witness testimony compiled in the New Testament, but He is mentioned as a historical person by several non-Christian sources within 150 years of His life. From those sources, we can learn 10 things about Jesus without…

3 BIG Reasons Why God May Choose to Hide Himself

Christian Apologetics, Christianity, Divine Hiddenness, Dr. Frank Turek, free will, God's Hiddenness, Jesus, Jesus resurrection, morality, philosophy, Podcast, religion, theology
Why doesn’t God make Himself more obvious? If God truly exists, why wouldn’t He just appear to everyone and settle all doubts once and for all? In a world filled with skepticism, doubt, and unbelief, the “divine hiddenness” of God is one of the most common objections raised against Christianity. But is it really a valid reason to reject His existence? In this solo midweek episode, Frank tackles a listener’s question about God’s hiddenness and explores these questions along the way: Does the hiddenness of God negate the evidence we already have for His existence? What does Scripture reveal about why God may choose to remain unseen? Would seeing the full presence of God actually eliminate doubt and unbelief for some people? How do free will and love relate to…

Is it possible that Jesus, the most influential person in history, was just a fictional character? In this midweek podcast, Frank responds to a question from Elijah, a medical student in Ghana, whose evolutionist professor seems unwilling to consider that Jesus existed unless Elijah can provide first century sources from outside of the Bible. What’s the most effective way for Elijah to engage with his teacher’s skepticism? Join Frank as he explores these questions and more, including: How can you respectfully defend your faith in the classroom? What historical and archaeological evidence confirms Jesus’ existence? Are extra-biblical sources more credible than the New Testament writers? What common presuppositions do atheists hold, and how can you respectfully challenge them? Can Christianity Really Be The Only Means of Salvation Part II

Al Serrato, Coexist, Gospel, Jesus, Problem of Religious Exclusivism, Theology and Christian Apologetics, tolerance, universalism
Many skeptics believe that all religions are basically the same. If there is an afterlife, they surmise, all that will be required for admission is that you live a “good” life and be “sincere” about your beliefs. My last post offered reasons from the observation of nature that should cause the skeptic some concern. In short, it seems to me that a study of nature actually leads to the contrary conclusion: if nature is our guide to knowledge, then the Author of nature seems to be teaching that getting it right is what matters. Sincerely believing that you can defy gravity won’t count for much if you step off the side of a building, no matter how good a life you’ve lived up until then. Nature is Exclusive Nature provides…

Apologetics Canada, Bible’s reliability, Christian Apologetics, Christianity, Dr. Andy Steiger, Dr. Frank Turek, Jesus, morality, New Testament, philosophy, Podcast, religion, theology
In an age of growing skepticism and hostility toward the Bible, are there any good reasons to take it seriously? Last week, Dr. Andy Steiger, president of Apologetics Canada, joined Frank to tackle the problem of evil and to explore the ultimate purpose of suffering. This week, Andy returns to discuss, ‘Can I Trust the Bible?‘—a brand-new video series he co-created with Wesley Huff, defending the Bible’s reliability. In this episode, Frank and Andy dive into pressing questions like: Should Christians engage with secular platforms? How has Wes Huff’s debate with Billy Carson and recent interview with Joe Rogan influenced Apologetics Canada? What is Bart Ehrman getting wrong about New Testament manuscripts? How do we know the Pauline epistles were written early? What did plagiarism look like in the ancient world? Are there…
