By Timothy Fox With the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the “Skywalker Saga” is officially complete (for better or worse), and we can now examine all nine episodes as a completed whole. (Spoilers ahead!) While all of the Star Wars movies carry similar themes, such as hope, the importance of family, and the ultimate triumph of good over evil, I think there is one concept that rises above the rest: redemption. Quickly defined, redemption is the act of making up for one’s past wrongs. The greater the wrongs committed, the greater the necessary actions to atone for one’s past. Redemption usually (always?) involves some sort of sacrifice, and so sacrifice and redemption are closely linked. The two greatest examples of this in the Skywalker Saga involve Darth Vader and Kylo…

The Problem of Evil

Al Serrato, Apologetics, Christian Apologetics, Skeptics, the problem of evil, theology, Theology and Christian Apologetics
By Al Serrato One of the most common challenges to the Christian worldview is the problem of evil. We see evil all around us; we need to do little more than pick up a newspaper or watch the nightly news to have our sensibilities assaulted with countless acts of senseless violence and suffering. Many are man-made and some a product of an indifferent Mother Nature; whatever the source, at times, it feels as if the world is awash in wickedness. How, the challenger entreats, can your good and loving God create such things? Why did he imbue man with such capacity for wickedness? The Christian responds that God did not create evil. No, they claim, evil is the product of man’s twisted free will. How well does this claim hold…

Satan’s Youth Group Design

If Satan were devising a plan to destroy the Christian Church Excerpted from the book: TESTED: A New Strategy for Keeping Kids in the Faith What Would Satan Do? If Satan were devising a plan to destroy the Christian Church, he would eliminate any awareness of the necessity of preparing our youth to withstand the false teachings of the culture he has been cultivating. He would have the Church avoid answering the hard questions for our kids. He would segregate Christianity to a place where Christians speak their own language, unintelligible to the secular world. He would convince them that it is hopeless to look at scientific and historic evidence for support of their faith. He would direct them towards teaching methods that fail to prepare their children to understand their…

Christian Truth How Scientists Have Armed Christians with Evidence By Brace E. Barber Apologetics Speakers June 29, 2018 Christianity’s Truth Mission Christianity was sorely damaged by its own search for the truth starting in the Renaissance. It is as if Christian leaders commissioned the digging of a well and then drown in the flood that their work caused. This water that was the focus of their theology ended up nourishing everything that they detested. The Renaissance of the 15th through 17th centuries brought about a renewed focus on reason instead of faith. Scholars began to explore evidence for their beliefs and they put a premium on conclusions that were empirically provable. Over time, science played an ever increasing role in shaping the core beliefs of society. The Renaissance created the…

Moody Radio hosts Solomon and Dawn engaged with Brace for a great discussion about solving the problem of youth leaving the faith after high school. The 24 minute segment covered why the majority of kids reject Christianity and how parents and churches can effectively prevent them from leaving. Brace’s approach goes beyond simply stopping kids from leaving to preparing this next generation to impact the world for Jesus Christ. The program first aired on Moody Radio June 13, 2018. http://bracebarber.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Solomon-and-Dawn-Brace-Barber-061318-TotalNoise-Reduced.mp3

Clawing at Our Doors for our Sons and Daughters

Clawing at Our Doors for our Sons and Daughters How the Church is Following Lot’s Lead By Brace E. Barber Christian Apologetics Speaker June 6, 2018 Do What You Like With Them The story of Lot offering his virgin daughters to the sex-crazed crowd of men to “do what you like with them,” is highly disturbing to me. (Gen 19:8 NIV) As a father of three, including my little girl, I can’t imagine facing a situation where I would offer her to be ravaged in this way. I can only think of protecting her at my own expense, no matter the situation. What would it be like to have a mob of men wildly beating on your door in the middle of the night threatening you and your guests? This…

2 Christian Youth-Leadership Imperatives

2 Christian Youth-Leadership Imperatives Flourish or Flounder. Neither is Easy By Brace E. Barber May 10, 2018 Christian Apologetics Speaker There is one major content change and one major process change that will separate failing youth groups from flourishing youth groups over the next five years. The differences between the two will not even be close. Failing groups will lose members and atrophy while the others will grow in members and confidence. Those that grow will be lead by bold men and women who are confident in what they know and prepared to take on the world. Strong Christian Youth-Leadership is critical and it’s called for. 2 Timothy 1:6-7 (NIV) 6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying…
