Bible and morality, Christian Apologetics, Christian Worldview, Christianity, Culture and Christianity, Dr. Frank Turek, Free speech vs hate, LGBTQ debate, morality, philosophy, Podcast, religion, theology
Is disagreement hate? And what about speaking out against certain sexual behaviors, like LGBTQ? Does that make you a mentally unstable person? A Canadian “hate speech” bill is currently causing concern as critics warn it could chill religious speech and expose some people to prosecution for simply quoting the Bible. Meanwhile, basketball player Jaden Ivey is promptly fired from the Chicago Bulls for stating that Pride Month celebrates “unrighteousness” as other NBA players commit serious felonies (including physically harming others) without serious repercussions. What’s up with that? Pack your patience during the midweek episode as Frank addresses these and many other questions including: What is the irony behind Liberal Party MP Marc Miller’s statements in regards to Bible passages in Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and Romans? Where does our identity come from?…

Apologetics, Christian Apologetics, Christian Worldview, Christianity, Dr. Frank Turek, Evidence for Christianity, hasty generalization, logical fallacies, morality, philosophy, Podcast, religion, theology
How do you make the case for Christianity? It seems that the burden of proof always falls on Christians, but there are certain aspects of reality that need to be explained regardless of your worldview (even atheism!). The question remains, which worldview fits the story of reality better than the others? In this evergreen podcast episode, Frank breaks down 10 aspects of reality that support the Christian worldview by answering questions like: What is the cosmological argument? How is the universe fine-tuned at three different levels? Why is atheism, not Christianity, at odds with science? Where do the laws of logic come from? Why doesn’t science say anything? Where does objective morality come from? How did Jesus Christ become the most influential person in human history? Why is it…

I couldn’t sleep last night. I’ll never forget where I was when I first heard the news. I was at the dentist, sitting in the chair getting a cavity filled by my dentist—who, years ago, was in my youth group. After numbing me up, he left the room to let the medication set in. I pulled out my phone, opened Facebook, and saw Graham Allen’s post (seconds after he posted it) asking for prayers for Charlie Kirk. My heart sank. I immediately googled “Charlie Kirk.” Nothing came up. I refreshed it twice, and finally one lone article came up simply noting that Kirk was shot in Utah. No other details were given. A few minutes later, my dentist walked back into the room. His face was pale and shaken. He told…

Why Culture Hates Charlie Kirk

Apologetics, Christian Apologetics, Christian Worldview, Christianity, Christianity and culture, Cultural Hostility, Following Jesus, Gospel, Jesus and Culture, Legislating Morality, Culture & Politics, Natasha Crain, Persecution of Christians, Public Faith
When my book When Culture Hates You came out earlier this year, I got a lot of comments from both Christians and nonbelievers either laughing off the idea that the culture hates Christians or suggesting to me that writing a book of this nature was unnecessarily “divisive.” There are even some reviews from people who loved the book but still mention that you “just have to get past the title.” Never mind the fact that Jesus Himself told his followers the world would hate them (John 15:18-19: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.…

Can We Legislate Morality?

Christian Worldview, Christianity, CrossExamined Apologetics Team, Culture, Legislating Morality, Culture & Politics, Legistlating Morality, Melissa Dougherty, Objetive Morality, Politics
By Melissa Dougherty Since the 1960s, there’s been a measurable dramatic decline in moral ethics here in the United States. Some would argue that it’s been in a general decline since the dawn of humanity, myself included. However, here in the United States, the phrase “legislating morality” has been brought up more and more. Depending on the generation, many people have not heard this phrase or even understood what it means. Some use it as a cliche term to throw in the face of the person trying to promote certain morals that should be either lawful or not. I say that similar to the argument of “there is no absolute truth,” saying that we can’t legislate morality is simply self-defeating. Everyone everywhere intrinsically knows right from wrong. Many people would…

I learned with sadness this week that my good friend and colleague Jon Buell passed away on Saturday, March 14. I had been Jon’s academic editor for the Foundation for Thought and Ethics (FTE), a Dallas publisher of books aimed at un-indoctrinating high school and college students. He hired me in 1997 and I stayed on in that position until my family’s move from Texas to Iowa in 2012. We didn’t produce a lot of books at FTE, but it was quality work and it articulated without apology a broadly Christian worldview against a materialist biology, a relativist ethics, and a revisionist historicism. In short, FTE served as an antidote to the PC and progressivist culture. Given how this culture has unfolded and seemingly prospered since FTE’s founding by Jon…
